This corporate construction project’s scope includes a revamped site package to facilitate the delicate logistics required to efficiently move people and buses in and out of the blood processing facility. This ensures the seamless operation of OneBlood’s mobile blood banks and donor services.
The staging areas within the facility support the maintenance and operation of dozens of mobile blood donation buses. These buses are essential for OneBlood’s mission to reach donors in various locations, making it convenient for people to donate blood and save lives.
The interior spaces have been carefully designed to create an ambiance of comfort, teamwork, and cleanliness. Luxury vinyl flooring, carpet, wall graphics, and acoustical panels have been used to enhance the workspace and promote a welcoming and collaborative environment.
The facility’s biologics laboratory is a critical component of Project OneBlood. It is equipped with deep cold storage capabilities, ensuring that blood products can be stored at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius, maintaining the integrity and safety of the blood supply.
All new building systems have been implemented, including fire and domestic water upgrades. The facility is equipped with a 500-kilowatt generator capable of running the entire building for 72 hours on a single fuel tank. Dozens of new rooftop units (RTUs) are in place to maintain continuous operation, ensuring a 24/7 workflow.
OneBlood serves as a major blood provider for several hospitals, including Atrium Health, Levine Cancer Institute, Levine Children’s Hospital, Jeff Gordon Children’s Center, Women’s Hospital in Greensboro, Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, and Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro. This new facility strengthens these critical partnerships and ensures a steady, reliable, and efficient stream of donations and support for patients.
