It All Started in a Basement...

In 1989, in the modest basement of Millard Choate’s home, Choate Construction was formed. Armed with a refurbished copy machine and two worn desks, Choate tackled the Atlanta construction market, beginning first with small interior buildouts and eventually taking on larger, more diversified work.

While we’ve outgrown the basement, the original tenants of the Atlanta office remain intact: serve a diversified market of clientele; live out Choate’s mission, vision and core values; enrich our staff by providing meaningful careers; and support the community in which we live, work and play.

Featured |  Millard Choate accepts the Spirit of American Award, the highest national corporate award bestowed by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, as chosen by the CF Foundation's national office and American Airlines. Choate Construction was selected based on company-wide efforts to find a cure for cystic fibrosis and the strong partnership formed with CFF. Previous winners have included Chubb Insurance, Kroger, FedEx, Toshiba, and Unum.

A work hard, play hard mentality, we value a successful project completion just as much as the gold medal at our annual Office Olympics.

Choate Atlanta maintains a keen focus developing our employee owners’ talents to ensure a successful future for our people and our firm. Choate’s Leadership Development Program provides opportunities to equip our staff with valuable skills beyond their job role. Employee owners have the opportunity to attend online classes via Schoox, an in-house education portal. And our new hire mentorship program is the buddy system at its finest; no newbie will go it alone.

And our digs aren’t too shabby either.

Atlanta’s new office space, renovated in 2019, specifically targets opportunities for further employee collaboration, engagement, and productivity; it is a tangible reflection of Choate’s investment in employee well-being and satisfaction.

Choate’s strong sense of stewardship, one of our six core values, permeates the company and has led Choate to make a notable philanthropic difference in the Atlanta area.

From our employee matching gifts program that supports our employee owners’ personal causes, to the Choate-initiated Cars & ‘Q event which has raised nearly $1.5 million for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, employee owners are encouraged to get passionate and get involved.
