Popular Moon River Brewing Company expands their operations with an additional kitchen, restrooms, and a patio bar properly dubbed the "Beer Garden" in downtown Savannah. This single-story addition and spacious patio seats more than 200 patrons and features a cypress pergola atop pavers and concrete inlays, providing cool shade on hot Savannah summer days. A brick and wrought iron fence encloses the space, and is designed to blend with the Historic District's architecture. The site, often referred to as "the pit" by neighbors, is the remains of a basement from a building demolished several years previous. Approximately 2,000 cubic yards of dirt are trucked in to fill the pit in order for the vertical construction to take place.
