After over a decade of planning, fundraising, and design the Mecklenberg Area Catholic Schools Fine Arts Center at Charlotte Catholic High School comes to fruition. MACS Fine Arts Center provides a much-needed home to CCHS's band, choral, art, and theater disciplines with the highlight of the building being a fully-furnished auditorium complete with theater performance lighting, A/V systems, and seating. Other amenities include a separate "black box" theater room, choral, band practice rooms, and space for the school's pottery, art, digital learning, and "maker" classes.
The building is constructed of architectural precast concrete on three sides, as well as, the walls surrounding the main theater combined with structural steel framing and composite concrete decks. The front facade is almost entirely made up of ultra-clear curtain wall glazing mixed with wood and metal paneling that blurs the line between outside and the inside lobby space.
The interior of the Fine Arts Center is on par with any professional performance facility and is primarily used to showcase the various talents of CCHS students. Complete with high-end performance stage lighting fixtures and controls, professional stage curtain system, and floating acoustical ceilings and wall panels, the facility is anticipated to be one of the premier performing locations in the area.
