The Space
Square Footage 140,000
Location Nashville, TN
Choate Construction continues its partnership with a longstanding automotive client to deliver a new location for the company’s downtown Beaman Toyota Dealership.

Offering quick access to Interstate 24, Beaman’s new facility houses multiple auto services under one roof as an efficient, one-stop-shop for its clients. This project consists of three major sections, including the main show room and sales floor, service area and reception, and maintenance shop.

With ample space to showcase the latest and greatest Toyota models in addition to private workstations, clients will be greeted in the reception area with awe-inspiring architecture that reflects the sophistication of the Toyota brand and Beaman’s operations. The second floor of the dealership is constructed to house a large office suite as well as training and break rooms for Beaman’s staff team.

Automotive Construction Designed to Facilitate Growth

In alignment with the owner’s goal of offering an extended array of services to clients in the local community, the project team constructs a multi-faceted and spacious maintenance facility onsite. One of the largest in the area at 42,000 SF, the auto services shop features 57 service bays with lifts, in addition to multiple specialty automotive bays reserved for other services. Directly above the maintenance facility sits a 48,000-SF parking deck to provide clients with easy access to Beaman’s show room and sales floor.

Proactive Planning, Collaborative Solutions

Situated on a nine-acre site with numerous grade changes and mass rock formations in cut areas, this automotive project required extensive earthwork to ready the ground for construction. In addition to the grading and rock removal, the project team incorporated more than two acres of permeable pavers to mediate water flowing in from the hill above, reduce the retention pond size requirements, and create maximum space for vehicle parking for the dealership.

The existing sewer infrastructure was old and deteriorated. The city required Choate to remediate existing piping and structures by replacement or lining piping and manholes. In addition to proactively managing long lead times on most materials, the project team adapted to unanticipated changes in the supply chain by working closely with the trade partners, architect, and owner to adjust materials and equipment used by the team to keep the project moving on schedule.
