St. Helena Island Library Named Most Beautiful in SC

August 3, 2016

Compliments of The Beaufort Gazette

The St. Helena Island branch of Beaufort County Library has been named the most beautiful library in South Carolina by a tech website.

The library “creates a cozy environment with lattice-enclosed reading spaces inside and relaxing open spaces outside,” Tech Insider noted.

The website selected its most beautiful library in each state. The list included more modern designs like St. Helena and historic buildings like the Free Library of Philadelphia, which opened in 1894.

The St. Helena Island library opened in 2012 on Jonathan Francis Sr. Road on the campus of Penn Center. The new building — an $11 million project — replaced a shared space in St. Helena Island Elementary School.
