Choate Construction is pleased to announce two Georgia projects earned honors in ENR Southeast’s 2024 Regional Best Projects Awards program. Cottrell Trailers Manufacturing Plant in Gainesville achieved the Award of Merit in the manufacturing category, and Ann Street Lofts in Savannah took home top honors as the Best Project in the Specialty Construction category.
Both projects were selected from more than 120 robust submissions – a near 50% increase in the submissions from the previous year – based on the demonstrated excellence in teamwork, innovation and industry contributions, quality and craftsmanship, and more.
Cottrell Trailers Manufacturing Plant is a 545,000-SF facility designed and constructed to bolster the nation’s leading trailer and auto hauler manufacturer’s growing operations. A notable feature of this project is the 600-liner-foot DOT bridge that connects Cottell’s existing campus to the new facility, literally and figuratively bridging the company’s past to its future. Balancing speed to market and quality, innovative design, Choate’s work on this project also earned the “Excellence in Construction Award” by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Georgia.
Just steps away from Downtown Savannah, Ann Street Lofts is Choate’s inaugural cross-laminated timber project and the first to be constructed in southeast Georgia. 110 and 111 Ann Street offer premium amenities, two levels of below-grade parking, and nearly 400 luxury hospitality units to the area. With the CLT panels prefabricated in Austria by Binderholz, the project team demonstrated expert coordination and pre-planning through virtual design and construction technology – down to the millimeter – to ensure a quick and easy onsite assembly that generated almost no waste.
