Choate Construction’s Charleston project teams were excited to host students from The Citadel military college on a tour of the Credit One stadium project. The students are studying construction management, so two of Choate’s own Citadel alumni, Superintendent Rod Jackson and Project Manager Mike Adams, gave the cadets a practical look at an ongoing project.
The two-hour instructional tour included a detailed look at the foundations of the Stadium and the steel application process utilized. The School’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is geared toward providing students with hands-on learning experiences that provide practical knowledge and prepare them for success in their future careers.
“It was an exciting opportunity to teach future graduates of my alma mater, The Citadel,” says Rod Jackson. “The College’s program offers cadets a chance to experience real-life applications of their studies by encouraging engagement in ongoing construction projects around the Charleston area.”
The sunshine and welcoming weather was perfect for the tour, after which students had the opportunity to try out the Oculus virtual reality goggles to experience a 360° view of what the Stadium will look like once completed.
