Choate Receives CAGC’s 2023 Pinnacle Award

February 9, 2023

Choate Construction Company is honored to announce it has been selected as one of this year’s Pinnacle Award winners for the Credit One Stadium Renovations project by the Carolinas Associated General Contractors (CAGC). Choate Construction, SteelFab, Inc, Glasscorp, and Pleasant Places Inc’s notable work and partnership earned this recognition in the Best Building Project, Large ($5 million and above) category of the Awards program.

“Working alongside the Charleston Tennis team and our key trade partners on the Credit One Stadium Renovations project has been the opportunity of a lifetime,” says Kyle Sprayberry, Project Executive at Choate Construction. “The talent, determination, and passion this team has shown directly contributed to the project’s success and this recognition by the CAGC.”

After 20 years as Charleston’s premier event venue, Credit One Stadium received an extensive renovation totaling more than 167,000 SF, with an increase in capacity from 7,000 to 11,000 through open-air design and a spacious bowl-shaped arena. The facility is designed to blend seamlessly with its environment; from the traditional Lowcountry flair of polished tabby flooring within all hospitality suites, to emulating the cranes at the nearby Port of Charleston in the design of the Stage House’s exterior canopy, the charm of the coastal city is reflected in every detail.

“We are grateful to the CAGC for recognizing the Credit One Stadium team’s hard work with the Pinnacle Award,” says Quinn Gaines, Director of Business Development for Choate’s Charleston office. “It has been such a privilege working alongside this team of talented individuals and to have the opportunity to revitalize such a historic centerpiece of Charleston’s community and culture.”

Due to an aggressive project schedule, both interior design and construction had to move forward at the same time. Choate and the design team worked seamlessly to coordinate the entire process, prioritizing consistent communication and open collaboration to instill confidence and produce an award-winning teamwork mentality. The outcome is a state-of-the-art facility that provides entertainment from world-class athletes and performers while stimulating the Charleston economy for years to come.
