Choate Breaks Ground on 22-Story FNB Tower in Downtown Raleigh

May 8, 2018

On May 3, 2018, Choate Construction and repeat-client Dominion Realty Partners broke ground on FNB Tower at 501 Fayetteville, the latest addition to the downtown Raleigh skyline. Pennsylvania-based First National Bank anchors the 22-story building with a 40,000-SF regional headquarters.

Designed by Raleigh-based JDavis Architects, the massive 420,000-SF tower is built atop an existing parking deck. Exterior elements include a striking facade with modern low-emissivity glass, metal skin, and vertical mirror glass fins.  Luxurious features include six floors of Class-A office space, ground-level retail, 239 luxury residential units with a world-class amenity level, and an outdoor Skydeck terrace offering unparalleled views of the downtown skyline.

“Downtown Raleigh is home to a rapidly growing population, innovative companies, award winning restaurants, risk-taking entrepreneurs, and amazing cultural institutions, and is also the place where Raleigh comes together and engages as a community,” said Raleigh mayor Nancy McFarlane. “The FNB Tower project is a wonderful example of a project that is both reshaping our skyline and adding to the City’s thriving economy. We are excited to have FNB’s regional headquarters in Raleigh.”

Construction on the tower is to begin immediately. At its completion in March 2020, FNB Tower will be the fourth-tallest building in downtown Raleigh.
