Choate Awarded 1st Place in National AGC Construction Safety and Excellence Awards

October 8, 2021

Choate Construction is honored to announce it has been awarded 1st place in The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) 2021 Construction Safety and Excellence Awards (CSEA). Presented at the AGC Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida, the national award celebrates firms who excel in safety performance, occupational health management, and risk control.

Unlike other safety award programs that have criteria centered around incident rates, the CSEA selection process offers a more comprehensive look into the safety practices of each applicant. By a panel of peers, Choate Construction was judged for: Company Management Commitment, Active Employee Participation, Safety Training, Work Site Hazard Identification and Control, and Safety Program Innovation.

“I am incredibly humbled by the daily commitment of our safety teams, trade partners, and employee-owners that made this accomplishment possible,” says Matt Brewer, President & CEO of Choate Construction. “True safety requires everyone on the team, from those on the jobsite to those in the office, to maintain their commitment to advancing our OneLife safety culture.”

Choate’s unique OneLife safety identity and program goes beyond compliance-based safety practices, focusing on a culture of safety that touches the heart. On and off the jobsite, team members are encouraged to consider their life and legacy in the context of loved ones, as well as the loved ones of their fellow workers, to ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.

After being selected as a finalist in the Construction Management division for firms with more than 650,000 man hours, Choate conducted an oral presentation before a panel of five judges at the AGC National Convention in Orlando, Florida.

“Truth be told, presenting on Choate’s safety performance and practices was easy due to our project teams’ and trade partners’ continuous commitment to our OneLife mentality,” says Corporate Safety Director Chad Hart. “Because of them, this award is possible.”
