Charlotte Safety Director, John Shepardson, Elected President of Carolina Star Conference Board

January 6, 2020

Congrats to our very own John Shepardson, Charlotte Safety Director, who has been elected as the President to the Carolina Star Conference Board. The Carolina Star Board is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) and is comprised of nineteen members including six from the NC Department of Labor. The main objective of the board is to promote the Carolina Star Program in North Carolina through five regional teams made up of Carolina Star companies; approximately 150 companies in all from General Industry, Building/Construction, Public Sector, and Rising Star. The board hosts an annual conference in Greensboro, NC. With over 800 attendees last year, the conference has various industry speakers, including the NC Commissioner of Labor, and several best-practice workshops taught by workers from Carolina Star companies.

John has been a board member for 12 years and will serve a two-year commitment as elected President. John also is a NC Special Star Team Member (SSTM), which allows him to go out and evaluate companies with NC OSH to make recommendations to the NC Commissioner of Labor on their participation in the Carolina Star Program.
