This private school offers a comprehensive education program for K - 12th graders, designed to build the academic, social and emotional competence of students with learning disabilities.
Phase I includes computer labs, counselor’s offices, cafeteria, media center, and a centralized administrative and support staff area. Additional components include site development, soccer field, play areas, and extensive landscaping.
Phase II includes the classroom wing addition and gymnasium expansion. Classroom wings extend from each side of the administrative building and are similar in design with a Georgian theme. Each two-story building is constructed of load bearing light guage steel framing with light guage trusses. The veneer is brick veneer with aluminum clad windows and includes architectural shingles. Additional work includes installation of the monumental stairs in the existing lobby and reworking the entire fire alarm system.
Maintaining a safe and productive work site while school was in progress is paramount. A site evacuation plan, continuous communication with the Fire Marshall, and carefully planned deliveries are essential components to project safety and schedule. Phase II received the 2009 “Excellence in Construction Award” from the ABC of the Carolinas for its innovation, quality and safety.
