The spectator-friendly J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex project involves the replacement, relocation, and upgrade of the exterior court surface. Six lighted courts, chairback seating for up to 1,000 spectators, and an electronic scoreboard are added to further enhance the complex.
Existing tennis courts are shifted to the north, making room for the spectator and scoreboard mezzanine overlooking the upgraded playing surface. The electronic scoreboard is visible from all seats, showing live scoring during matches. Two stairways create easy access to the mezzanine. An ADA-compliant access bridge connects the mezzanine to the parking lot entrance and the existing tennis facility.
Below the spectator mezzanine are restroom facilities and a variety of storage and mechanical spaces housing team equipment and supplies. To accommodate the northward move, a large retaining wall holds back the cut into the grassy hill. Three large trees provide shade to spectators perched above the courts on the hill.
The J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex also includes improved rainwater drainage, enhanced court lighting, as well as team shelters to shade players.
