Located on a 19-acre site, the Lake Norman Charter School allows for the relocation of 750 5th – 8th grade students from a modular campus into a fresh, bright facility. Features include a gymnasium, media center, dining facility, administration, large classrooms, and an athletic field / track. The school is located on a state highway and paramount is the need to improve the frontage by constructing turning lanes and a complete overlay to handle the increased traffic. Students are delivered and picked up daily by parents or small car pools, which necessitates an onsite traffic plan that allows staging of cars during two peak times. A one way traffic plan is designed that calls for a loop road around the athletic field/track to satisfy this requirement. The project also includes a parking area and soccer field.
