Expanded Care with Room to Grow

The first phase of this unique project consists of a two-story, 68,000-SF medical building housing a surgery suite with an operating room and procedure room, as well as pre- and post-operative recovery areas. An imaging suite, lab, urgent care, physical therapy, and clinic suite are included. Space is also added for future specialty care areas, clinical spaces, operating room, and procedure room.

Exterior Highlights

A Light-Filled, Welcoming Environment

Curtainwall, ribbon windows, brick, synthetic stucco, and metal panels create a varied exterior complemented by architectural concrete, paver hardscapes, and lush landscaping. Inside, a two-story atrium fills the waiting area with abundant natural light.

Construction Technology Integration for a Better Build

Implementing virtual technology strategies such as BIM coordination and 360 cameras, the project team was able to capture in-wall and overhead intricacies to coordinate construction of operating and procedure rooms simultaneously, saving time and delivering the project ahead of schedule.

Underground plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems were coordinated with each other and with the structural foundation using Autodesk Navisworks Manage and BIM 360 Glue, preventing costly and time-consuming in-field conflicts.
Overhead MEPF systems were coordinated with the architectural and structural designs, as well as with each other, to also reduce field rework. This type of up-front coordination allowed MEPF trades to place their hanger inserts into the deck before slabs were poured, significantly reducing labor and costs vs. a post-pour installation approach requiring drilling.

MEPF interfacing, primarily ductwork, was easily coordinated with steel framing at the roof level.
Field access to the latest coordinated model was put directly into the hands of the construction trades – the ones installing, validating and tracking work -- via the iOs Procore app and the Procore Model Viewer.
360-degree photos were captured via the StructionSite platform at specific milestones to document building progress. The photos were automatically tracked by location according to the floorplan and date-stamped. The process helps to increase overall efficiency while reducing rework and risk by fully capturing and historically documenting all areas of the jobsite.
