This fast-track, Design-Build shipping, receiving, and processing center is the first ground-up building for FedEx’s SmartPost business model, which unites FedEx and the United States Postal Service to offer a low-cost shipping option.
The structure consists of traditional tilt-wall and a structural steel roof. A cross dock configuration is utilized and has 114 dock positions. A large Main Distribution Frame (MDF) room contains many of the servers needed to handle the facility’s material handling equipment and is supported by a standalone cooling systems, UPS, and generator-backed power.
The 40-acre site provides parking areas for 450 employees and trailer storage for 600 units. Two additional public roads are created and improvements are made to existing roads to support the facility.
