The 100,000-SF addition to the existing injection mold manufacturing facility for Greiner Bio-One marks the second industrial project with Choate Construction Company. The addition consists of an independent structural steel frame, with open web bar joists clad in insulated precast concrete panels.
Inside the addition there is a 15,000-SF mezzanine, with executive office areas on the upper level and lab areas with clean room spaces below. Air quality is extremely important in the manufacturing areas. The HVAC system works with a system of air lock chambers and high-speed air curtains maintain tight control over air pressure, humidification, particulate matter and temperature in the manufacturing and lab spaces. Special coordination and construction measures are needed to perform work inside the existing area, as the plant must remain in full operation during construction.
