Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Marks Milestone for Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Grill and Choate Construction

October 20, 2016

Charleston, SC  – Choate Construction Company completes its seventh consecutive restaurant with leading food service management company- Delaware North, within the Charleston International Airport (CHS). Jack Nicklaus and wife Barbara Nicklaus cut the ceremonial ribbon on October 20, marking the official opening of the Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Grill in North Charleston, SC.

Golf legend Jack Nicklaus has taken his game to Charleston, as this 2,560-SF eatery at the bustling CHS location is the second Golden Bear location on the east coast. His first, located in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, FL, opened June 2016 and has reportedly exceeded expectations for business and the delicious food inspired by Barbara Nicklaus’ famous recipes.

The distinctively designed restaurant was selected to make its home at the CHS airport for its home-style, laid-back appeal and the international recognition of the Nicklaus name. With references to the familial history and travels of the famed golfer, the design of Golden Bear Grill features a tailored, warm blend of wood, stone, and refined details throughout. In lieu of focusing on golf, the space is accented with archival family photographs. The heart of the space is open and guides the eye to “Barbara’s Kitchen” where everything from breakfast to dinner is prepared alongside signature items.
