June 6, 2016

Kevin Cunningham, Safety Director of Choate Construction’s Charleston Division, has been selected as Safety Chairman for the Associated Builders and Contractors Carolinas Chapter (ABCC) Lowcountry Council.

The Lowcountry Area Council focuses on community needs, working to stay innovative in the ever-evolving industry. Kevin brings a decade of construction experience to the Council and his passion for safety is evident in his hands-on approach to Choate’s culture of safety, particularly OneLife.

Choate’s OneLife safety identity is the visual representation of the company’s safety program and represents the firm’s unwavering commitment to worker safety. OneLife challenges everyone it encounters to make safe decisions for their life, their family, and their legacy. Kevin’s time at Choate has been especially rewarding, having contributed to the Charleston division’s 8th consecutive year with zero recordable jobsite incidents.

Through his role as Safety Chairman, Kevin aims to bring a greater understanding to the personal significance safety holds through sharing training requirements, best practices, and lessons learned. Kevin is excited about the possibility of implementing a safety-related peer-review system within the Lowcountry and its industry members.

“Having a part in the Lowcountry Area Council of the ABC’s Carolinas Chapter is an honor, and I’m excited to share Choate’s safety practices with the Council as Safety Chairman. Safety is a fundamental value, and it is our duty to discuss safety best practices with each other to provide jobsite personnel the safest working environment in the industry,” Kevin said.
