Choate Receives Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s ‘Community Supporter of the Year’

March 2, 2016

Mt. Pleasant, S.C. (February 26, 2016) – Choate Construction Company was recently honored with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of South Carolina’s prestigious “Community Supporter of the Year” award during the foundation’s annual volunteer awards reception.

Fourteen awards were given to recognize individuals, companies, families and donors for their countless acts of dedication to the CFF mission.

“We were honored to present Choate Construction with our 2015 Community Spirit Award in recognition of their willingness to go above and beyond to support our chapter throughout the Charleston community,” said Alicia Parsons, executive director.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and progressively limits one’s ability to breath. The Foundation funds more cystic fibrosis research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support.

Choate Construction Co. is a long-term supporter and advocate for the organization, with fundraising efforts topping $2 million. Matt Brewer, vice president and division manager of Choate’s South Carolina division, is currently serving a two-year term on the CFF South Carolina board of directors. Brewer was also heavily involved in the 2015 CFF “Shoot for the Cure,” an annual sporting clay tournament. Fundraising efforts for the event resulted in $40,000 in support for the organization.
