Choate Charlotte’s First Annual Willis Armstrong Award

The first annual Willis Armstrong Award was presented to Matt Hartig, Senior Project Manager in the Charlotte office. This award honors a person who has exemplified superior individual and team performance in the execution of his or her work. Willis Armstrong was a long time team member whose character and work ethic are embodied by the people of Choate Construction. His tenacity, project brilliance and zest for life are the essence of the Award.

Matt’s accomplishments have really come to light lately; he was the Senior Project Manager for the following projects, followed by their respective awards:

  • zMax Dragway: ABC Excellence in Construction Award & Project of the Year
  • Clemson University’s SCE&G Energy Innovation Center: ENR Best Projects – Best Project for Energy/Industrial, Construction Management Association of America – Project Achievement Award, Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas – Eagle Award for Excellence in Construction, Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas – ABC Carolinas Project of the Year
  • Red Ventures Corporate Office Bldg: ENR Best Projects – Best Project for Office/Retail/Mixed-Use

The “Razor Scooter” trophy exemplifies a cutting edge approach to work and Willis’s enthusiasm for great humor.
