Choate Construction Company Announces New Savannah Interior Construction Division

February 16, 2017

Choate Construction Company announces the addition of an Interior Construction division to their Savannah office. Choate Interior Construction is a separate, autonomous construction group with a team dedicated solely to interior construction.

The division is the natural outgrowth of the firm’s already impressive resume, having completed numerous interior projects throughout the Savannah and Lowcountry area including Historic Savannah Foundation winners; Oatland Island Wildlife Center, The Florence, Moon River Brewing Company, as well as many others. Savannah joins the successful Atlanta and Charlotte Choate Interior Construction divisions; Choate’s Raleigh office will open an interior division later this month.

“Over the past 16 years, we (Choate Construction) have completed many interior and historic renovation projects in Savannah that we are very proud of. With the success of our Atlanta and Charlotte Interior divisions, increasing industry demands, and the talent we have focused on the work, we are thrilled rollout Choate Interior Construction to better serve the interior construction needs of our clients in Savannah and the Lowcountry,” said Kirk Gilbert, Choate Savannah’s Division Manager.

Choate Interior Construction provides a focused and precise solution to a market demand in Savannah. Its team of construction professionals, backed by the resources of Choate Construction, will provide dedicated services that address the nuances of this market sector, such as construction in occupied spaces, accelerated schedules, and unique partnerships with specialty subcontractors and vendors. Choate Interior Construction provides a full range of interior construction services to small businesses, first-time builders, corporate clients, law firms, national and regional retailers, and restaurant groups.

The autonomous construction group with its own staff of estimators, project managers, superintendents, and senior management assists clients in all phases of interior upfits, renovations, and expansions. The company has the capability to assess lease terms and conditions from a builder’s perspective and conduct an existing conditions survey. The team will also review design documents for design intent, constructability, means and methods, and building code violations, while also providing conceptual budgeting, quantitative estimating, life-cycle reviews and cost-benefit analysis.

Leading the team will be Robbie Stewart, a Savannah native and 15-year Choate veteran, with extensive experience in the local interior construction industry that spans the past two decades. A graduate of Georgia Southern University’s construction management program, Stewart’s diverse background translates into a strong force in the interiors industry, with the ability to tackle the most challenging projects with both speed and quality. His most notable recent experience includes The Florence at One West Victory and multiple buildouts for Memorial Health University.

“Over the years I have found that interior construction projects are some of the most complex, challenging and rewarding projects that I have been a part of,” says Stewart. “Choate Interiors in Savannah will allow us to focus on this market and further diversify the types of projects we pursue.”
