Polymer Group, Inc., a multi-national corporation that engineers nonwoven fabrics and products for the hygiene, wipes, and industrial markets, completes a multi-million dollar expansion of their existing 180,000- SF Waynesboro facility.
With the addition of manufacturing space, the project involves the installation of high-technology equipment to establish a new manufacturing line and increase production. The plant sits on 15 acres of land. A mini pile foundation and mat slab supports the building. The exterior walls are a combination of masonry and insulated metal sandwich panels. The mechanical system provides approximately 240,000 CFM of production ventilation along with 600 tons of chiller capacity. The electrical system includes the installation of four 4000 AMP switchboards and one 2500 AMP switchboard.
The LEED Silver certified project is first LEED facility for PGI.
