University of Georgia Stegeman Coliseum Addition

This state-of-the-art athletics training complex addition to the University of Georgia’s Stegeman Coliseum is an architecturally upscale facility housing two gymnasium practice arenas for basketball, practice facilities for the perennial national champion UGA gymnastics team, extensive weight training facilities, upscale team locker rooms for each of the various sports, athletics offices, and support areas.

The soaring gymnastics center features a complex array of 8 concrete pits ranging from 12’ to 6” deep, filled with foam block/gym synthetic seamless padded mats.

The tedious erection of 100 feet girder beams approximately 50 feet above the floor level took place just under the iconic “hat rim” roof of the original Coliseum. With an extremely tight site and no staging area, the success of this challenging project is a true testament to the critical coordination and experienced oversight of the project team.
