Best Residential / Hospitality Project, ENR Southeast
The Sea Pines Resort Clubhouse is home to the annual RBC Heritage PGA Tournament. With the dire need to expand and improve upon its existing facilities, Sea Pines selected Choate Construction to construct its Clubhouse and Conference Center. This project is constructed in two phases.
Phase one consists of the expansion and renovation to the existing Halfway House. Provisions are made allowing the golf course operations to continue, uninterrupted, during the demolition and construction period. The parking area beneath the Conference Center is converted to temporary golf cart. A temporary Pro Shop and Caddy Shack, along with a temporary cart staging area remains in operation prior to commencement of the Clubhouse demolition as the 2014 RBC PGA Heritage takes place between phase one and phase two of construction.
Phase two consists of the demolition to the existing Clubhouse structure and construction of the Clubhouse, which will be located within the same footprint of the existing structure. This facility includes a three-story structure which provides golf cart garage and storage in the basement, 1,900-SF Pro Shop with retail display, 4,000-SF men’s and women’s locker rooms to meet the needs of the PGA Tour. Additional features and amenities include: a living room lounge, 2,000 square foot restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating providing expansive golf views and elegant 2,200-SF banquet and event room, terraces and covered porches.
The Clubhouse is built within two inches of the existing Conference Center allowing the Clubhouse kitchen to poke-through to the existing Conference Center corridors and kitchen creating convenient operational efficiency. The adjacent Conference Center receives an exterior façade renovation to match the Clubhouse. This project is completed prior to the 2015 RBC Heritage PGA Tournament.
