Meeting Street Academy (MSA) expands its flagship Pre-K to 5th grade school in downtown Charleston, SC with an additional facility and turf playground. MSA provides educational opportunities for young children regardless of geographic or socioeconomic status and draws upon the best practices from innovative schools across the country.
The two-story addition creates classroom and administrative space for the not-for-profit private institution. The 17,640-SF steel-frame structure is supported by a hybrid mat and slab-on-grade foundation system. Non-load bearing metal stud walls are wrapped in masonry veneer and topped with an SBS modified bitumen roof system.
Abuse-resistant gypsum board walls and acoustical ceilings are installed throughout the space with resilient sheet flooring in the administrative areas and carpet tile floors in the classroom spaces.
Site work includes surface parking, site lighting, and utility installation. The campus receives an extended state-of-the-art turf playground and basketball court along with lush landscaping and concrete hardscapes.
