This two-story race shop and office building for Hendrick Motorsports and Jeff Gordon’s #24 DuPont NASCAR Winston Cup Racing Team contains race car assembly area, museum area, Jeff Gordon’s private offices and the offices of all support staff.
While most of the building is for race car assembly, team management and engineering offices, the Lobby mimics a museum, containing memorabilia from Jeff Gordon’s and Jimmie Johnson’s careers including uniforms, trophies from each victory, and #24 and #48 display cars. A Fan Viewing Area displays various vehicles behind an actual section of track crash fence and wall. Jeff Gordon leads a video tour through the facility on several plasma screens throughout the space.
The skin on the front of the building is curtainwall and composite aluminum panels and the shop is tilt-up concrete. Choate performed the MEP on a Design-Build basis.
